Earl Schwabe

Earl W. Schwabe, 86, of Moline, IL, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2022, at Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704 38th St., Rock Island. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday morning at the church. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.

Earl was born on October 5, 1935, in Thompsonville, Illinois, the son of Earl and Dolly (Galbraith) Schwabe. Earl was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served 13 months in Korea. He married Karen J. Morrison on December 30, 1960, in Moline. He was previously employed as the superintendent of Goetz Construction for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Later, he and his wife, Karen, owned and operated Sunshine Luxury Tours and enjoyed taking people on great tours for 25 years. Earl was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island. He gave his life to Christ as a young teenager. He loved God and served him as a Sunday School teacher for the boys’ class and as a deacon at the former Moline Gospel Temple for 30 years. Earl loved to golf and fish. Above all, he loved his family, especially his four grandchildren and spent much of his time with them.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; children, Terry (Jackie) Schwabe, Moline, Steve Schwabe, Moline, and Susan (Kyle) Sebben, Moline; 4 grandchildren, Emme Schwabe, Denver, Noah Sebben, Moline, Logan Sebben, Moline, and T.J. Schwabe, Moline; and brother, Jack (Anna Fae) Schwabe, Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordon; and sisters, Sadie Schwabe, Wanda Schwabe and Jean Carter.

Earl lived a life of integrity and serving others.
