Hildegard Kostka, 93, of Silvis, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, in her apartment at New Perspective, Silvis.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 19, 2021, at Salem Lutheran Church, Moline. All guests are required to wear face masks. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., is assisting the family.
Hilde was born on January 30, 1928, in Sorau-Lausitz, Germany, the daughter of Max and Paulina (Schroff) Kasper. She married Arnold Kostka in 1950 in Germany. Hilde was previously employed at Deere & Company. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
Hilde swam at the YMCA in Moline for numerous years, recognized for racking up thousands of miles in the pool. She continued to swim there with her friends until she was 90 and unable to drive herself. She volunteered for decades at the Trinity Medical Center in Moline and Rock Island, earning numerous certificates for her dedication. She helped in administration, the cancer ward and knitted for patients, wherever she was needed.
Hilde was an independent, strong and special woman who will be dearly missed by her family.
Survivors include her sons, Harold (Jackie) Kostka, Winter Haven, FL; Mark (Sadie) Kostka, Clearwater Beach, Florida; 3 grandchildren, Shaun Kostka, Dillon Kostka and Kiah Kostka; 1 great grandchild, Desirae Kostka.
She was preceded in death by her 16 siblings.
