Mary E. (Nitzel) Hast

Mary E. Hast, 85, of East Moline passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023 after a short stay at Wellspire Living Illini Restorative Care in Silvis.

A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Mary was born on October 1, 1938 in Moline the daughter of Willis and Ruth Lindholm Nitzel.  She married Louis S. Hast on January 28, 1986 in Rock Island and he preceded her in death on November 28, 2005.

In her younger years Mary worked in data entry for Bituminous Insurance Company.  Mary thrived on being independent and active; enjoying exercising and jogging in races.  She also enjoyed working in her yard and feeding the birds.  She loved cooking and baking loads and loads of Christmas cookies for family and friends.  Mary was known for her attention to detail and making sure all of the holidays were very special for her family. 

Survivors include her children; Tamara (Don) Clemons of Moline, Cerise (George) Seay of Longwood, Florida and Marshall (Lexi) Dawson of Moline; grandchildren; Jake Seay and Coleman (Nancy) Seay; siblings; Nancy (Dick) Ostrowski, Sydney Reiling and Carl Nitzel.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Justin Dawson and 2 brothers, Willis and Robert.
