Norma E. Stromquist, 88, formerly of Orion and Cambridge, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
Funeral services will be1 pm on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion. Visitation will be 11:30 am until services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Norma was born on December 27, 1933, in Green River, Illinois, the daughter of Gerald and Mary (Brinker) Thurmon. She married George Green on July 21, 1951, in Aledo. She later married Quentin Stromquist on August 11, 1974, in Orion. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2007. Norma worked as a janitor for Ophiem Lutheran Church. She then worked with her husband Quentin at Quent’s Country Inn. Later her and Quentin worked at Bank Orion as janitors. She was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church and former member of the Ophiem Auxiliary Legion for over 30 years. Norma had an artistic passion for painting, sewing, building miniature dollhouses, and making doll clothes.
Survivors include her children, Anna (Barry) Willett, Orion, Barb Norton, Moline, Judy Sawyers, Rock Island, Ken (Nicki) Green, Woodhull; 9 grandchildren, Merideth (Brad Huels) Willett, Derek Willett, Donald Willett, Kelli (Jeff) Parsons, Andy Norton, Cari (Rik) Conant, Nathan Green, Morgan (Mike Raya) Green, Chris Thackrey; 1 stepdaughter, Debbie (Larry) Carlson, Fort Meyers, FL; step grandchildren, Shawn (Darla) Stromquist, Tony (Emily) Stromquist, Lea (Matt) Vos, Sara (Darin) Taft, Chelsey (Justin) Nagl; 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and 10 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Quentin; son, Jerry Green; stepdaughter, Etta Stromquist; great grandson, Alex Conant; sister, Geraldine Thurmon; and special friend, Harry Humphrey.
